Meet Our Staff
Ed Perez
Editor-In-Chief Hello, my name is Eric Perez. Most everybody knows me as Ed or Chimi. This is my fourth and last year in journalism. I am the editor-in-chief, and I love to write for The Buzz newspaper. I joined journalism due to my older sisters who were past staff members of the incredible newspaper. The journalism family has been so welcoming and incredibly supportive. They are incredible people with incredible advice. Some hobbies I enjoy are playing video games with friends or playing sports like tennis and basketball. I'm not the greatest writer, but I love to write anything and everything. I hope everyone enjoys the articles we have worked so hard on to publish, and I hope people listen to our wonderful podcast The Bonneville Buzzcast. |
Ash Merritt
Assistant Editor Hello! My name is Ash. I am a junior at BHS, and I am one of the assistant editors of The Bonneville Buzz. I enjoy doing many projects at once even if it makes my stress levels go up. I have severe anxiety, but it's just another fun little game life gave me. I am always someone to talk to and have a serious conversation with although I might laugh at the wrong time. In my free time I paint, crochet, and read. One of my favorite books is Where the Red Fern Grows. I am also a master procrastinator, and it's not great to be a last-minute person. |
Grisel Gonzalez
Assistant Editor Hi, my name is Grisel, and I am one of the editors this year. I am 15 years old, and I am a sophomore at Bonneville High School. Journalism has been my absolute favorite class every trimester because of the positive environment, and I love to write. I would love to pursue a career that involves writing since it is my passion, but I would also like to be an ultrasound technician that travels around the world. I’d want to go to a college outside of Idaho Falls to really live my college experience and get out of this small town. My dream is to travel the world by myself, make good money, and be independently successful. |
Elliott Kidd
Social Media Manager Sup bestie boos, ( leave my commas be Wanger, I like my commas their) Elliot Kidd is what people call me! I am the social media manager and an kinda editor. Junior is the grade I am surviving in. I live art and writing. Journalism has sadly (/hj) made me choose english as a career path. I am a silly goose and my goal in this class is to lead all the little goslings into the chaos of journalism (the misspelling is for comical reasons) |
Joanna Dickson
Staff Writer Howdy, I’m Joanna Dickson. I sometimes go by Anna. I joined journalism because I needed an elective. I'm really happy I did because I have a second family here now. They make me so happy, and my smile when I'm in here is big. Some of my hobbies are ballroom dancing and art. I love drawing and watching Tik Tok. I love affection and people being there for me. I really enjoy cleaning my room and going over to friends' houses. I love watching shows and listening to music. One of my favorite artists is Taylor Swift. I love cats and I have two cats and I love them very much. |
Lucy Ker
Staff Writer Hi! My name is Lucy, and this is my first year in journalism! I am an equestrian, and I have been around horses my whole life. I own a jumping horse named Blazing Gatlin Guns, but I call him Gatlin for short. I have had him for 3 years, and he quickly became my best friend. I have 2 brothers and a sister; all but 1 brother has moved out. I am part of the journalism staff, so that I could have more classes with Wagner. I have been offered several scholarships to attend an equestrian-based college, and I am considering attending after I graduate. |
Baylie Kress
Staff Writer My name is Baylie Kress, and I am a senior at Bonneville High School. I have been on The Buzz since my junior year. I am the middle child in my family of five. The people in this class are the sweetest people. I love writing, and it's been so fun to be in this class to learn more about writing. |
MacKenzie Kulp
Staff Writer Heya! My name is MacKenzie Kulp, with a capital K because my dad wanted to make my life difficult. This is my first year on the Bonneville journalism team, but I have been doing journalism for 3 years prior. I only do journalism for fun and do not plan on continuing it as a career after high school. Instead, I am going to a college in Chicago to get a pastoral degree in counseling. It is my goal in life to help people that are struggling and want to be better. I am always really energetic and say the most random things for no reason. I appreciate all of my friends and am always looking for new things and adventures, especially anything that has to do with volleyball. I created the “Day in the Life” column to discover different cultures. I’m very excited to be a part of this team and can’t wait for many more things to come! |
Eden McIsaac
Staff Writer Hi, my name is Eden McIsaac, and I am a freshman here at BHS. I joined journalism for the new experiences. I am usually not one to try new things, but lately I have discovered a hobby of it. Some of the new things that I have recently tried are new foods, horse camps, and making myself talk to people. I am usually a very shy and introverted person; journalism has been a way for me to slowly come out of my shell! Some of the things that I enjoy doing outside of school are soccer, sketching, and spending time with friends. I have played soccer for about 10 years now; it has been a very big part of my life. I am not the best at drawing, but it helps calm my nerves. I have struggled with friendships a lot over the past few years. Recently, I have met some amazing people that have turned into my close friends. I am hoping I can make new friends and new experiences this year in journalism! |
Asher Montaño
Staff Writer Hello, I am your narrator today. Asher Montaño, a spectacular Ballroom Dancer currently on 2 teams trying to become the best he can be! Mr. Montaño spends most of his time procrastinating homework and playing games in the virtual realm. Mr. Montaño loves journalism though he might get headaches all the time, he nonetheless loves barfing out words and tearing others apart in beautiful fashion. Mr. Montaño is the eldest member of his guild (family) who loves showing his dominance in family game night! Our companion today also is one of the biggest nerds in the history of the Multiverse; therefore, he loves Marvel and still respects the good old days, not too much the sadness that is now the Marvel Universe. However, the idea of living in a medieval era with a big sword and helmet still occupies the dreams of our compatriots. If you see him in the halls, be sure to give him a hello and a hoorah, and he will salute you in return! Till that moment arrives, see ya! Taylor Smith
Staff Writer Hey, my name is Taylor Smith. I joined journalism strictly for the reason of having a class with a friend. I enjoy all things sports, specifically basketball. I have 3 brothers and 5 step siblings. I love hanging out mainly with my closest age brother. We do everything together. I love school activities. I am in Student Council as the Activity Leader. The true way to my heart is a Coke, mini Starbursts, and not one but two corn dogs. Ashlynn Morgan
Staff Writer Hey, pookies, my name is Ashlynn Morgan (I am being forced to write this against my will). I am a staff writer for the year 2023-2024 (Wagner is also a hostage). I am a short freshman at Bonneville High School. I joined journalism this year, so I didn't have to take a different choir class. I wanted to do journalism because one of my friends is in it and I like Mrs. Wagner. Some of my hobbies include singing, drawing, writing, acting, and reading. I love musical theatre; my favorite musical right now is Heathers. I love singing along to songs by Olivia Rodrigo, Conan Gray, Nessa Barrett, and Maggie Lindemann. In my free time, I mainly stick to drawing and making up my own characters. I love being on stage with friends, dressing up, and pretending to be someone else. I have written many stories over the years, but my favorite one right now is one about a girl that sees dead people. My favorite book series include The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare, The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, and The Sun and The Star by Rick Riordan and Mark Oshiro. |
Cooper Ruesch
Staff Writer Hi, I am Cooper Ruesch. I am a nerd, and you can't tell me otherwise. I am a sophomore here at Bonneville. This is my first time in journalism, and I do think that I am doing a good job although I have no idea what I am doing half of the time. The reason I am doing journalism is because I wanted to try something new and there are not really many electives that I want to do. I am enjoying my time here. It is a friendly environment, and I get to meet new people all the time. I think I can connect to most people in the journalism class, and it is something I want to do in the future. One thing not a lot of people know about me is that I know a lot of food combinations - some good and some weird. If you want to try something new, come find me. Allyson Wilson
Staff Writer Aloha! My name is Allyson Wilson, and I am one of the staff writers this year. I am 14 years old and a freshman at Bonneville High School. I chose to take journalism because I needed to replace military leadership since I was the only girl there and didn't want to do the basic military training. I was nervous to join journalism at first, but after I got to know the other staff members, it turned out to be really lively and enjoyable. I really love the positive and energetic environment. I never liked writing, but this class made it fun! I have a couple of hobbies: playing sports and Fortnite in my free time. I play basketball and soccer. I have played soccer for six years now. Throughout those six years, I have found my love for the sport. Whenever I'm on the soccer field, I have no worries in the world and feel at home. I played basketball for Bonneville for the year of 2023-2024. I have found my joy for the sport with the finding of new skills and life lessons. |
Emory Anderson
Staff Writer Hello, peasants. I'm Emory Anderson, and I am a junior. This is my first year being in journalism, and it has been so exciting and a joy. My hobbies that I do outside of the newspaper are reading books and sleeping. If there was an award for sleeping, I could probably get with me being able to sleep for 16 hours. The books that I like to read are all fiction and mostly some kind of mythology. I also enjoy hanging with my friends that can drive me places. Why would I get my license when I can be a passenger princess and have the driver buy me stuff? Aaliyah Garcia
Staff Writer Hi, my name is Aaliyah, and I am a part of the BHS journalism staff! I am a sophomore at Bonneville High School, and my favorite subject is math. My favorite things to do in my free time are spending time with my family, watching movies, and baking sweet treats. My favorite movies are the Twilight movies, and I love baking varieties of bread with family and friends. I first started journalism because my friend had done it and really liked it. She convinced me and was talking about all the fun things they do like writing articles and posting them on an official news page. I love Journalism and will continue to do it throughout high school. I love going out, making life fun, and meeting new friends. |
Brooke Wagner
Staff Advisor
Howdy, howdy, howdy! I’m Mrs. Wagner. I am an English teacher at Bonneville High School. Along with teaching English, I am the newspaper and yearbook advisor. I am originally from Indiana and moved to Idaho about six years ago. I have been married to my husband, Josh, for nearly five years. If you know me, you know I'm a crazy cat lady; we have the smallest, meanest, and cutest little black cat named Binx. He may be the devil reincarnate, so I'll keep you posted. My Harry Potter house is Slytherin and I am a Leo! I’m a sucker for anything salty and Dr. Pepper. I also enjoy rereading books and rewatching movies because I have probably forgotten the plot. Come back and visit us to keep up with The Buzz!
