Staff Writer With the current winter basketball season coming to a close, the students have been able to observe the players doing their best with the current win ratio being eight to four. The season spans from December to February. Sophomore Logan Arnold, the current power forward of the BHS team, is most known for his vertical for dunking. A power forward is a versatile player in basketball, combining size, strength, and agility to score rebounds and defend their side of the court. Arnold has been playing basketball since his “young days,” specifically since fourth grade. He currently averages 12-15 points per game, consistently helping his team on offense. Arnold mentioned his love for dunking is the primary reason he plays basketball. To maintain his performance, Arnold works out and practices basketball everyday. To unwind after games, he hangs out with his friends and family or listens to music. During the game, Arnold maintains focus and composure. by mentally planning future plays, so he does not get overwhelmed. Arnold then does whatever move he thinks would be best which commonly goes well, given Arnold is the top scorer. Arnold did state that his biggest weakness is “fouling out.” meaning he accidentally fouls opponents from time to time. Arnold idolizes Power Forward player Dennis Rodman, ‘95-’98 power forward for the Chicago Bulls. for his play style. Arnold practices and implicates Rodman’s style throughout his game, copying his ferocious defense, tenacious rebounding and relentless intensity. Arnold imitates this playstyle by playing aggressively, which often leads to accidental fouls. Rodman accumulated 544 personal fouls during his three seasons with the Bulls, a consequence of the same aggressive style Arnold brings to his own game. Although the season has been going very well for the BHS, the team is not perfect. Having lost four games so far, which Arnold said was a result of poor communication between defense players. Arnold mentions how that is the biggest problem on the team. He does think that the entire team is doing a great job, and he believes this season will continue to go well. Arnold plans to continue to do his part and try his hardest for his team.
