Charly Dixon Staff Writer A staff writer for The Bonneville Buzz, Kenna Goertzen is a junior in high school, and a few of her favorite classes are journalism and environmental science. She joined journalism in the second trimester of her freshman year. She enjoys being a staff writer, but she would love to be an Editor in Chief. Outside of journalism, Kenna loves to dance and has been dancing since she was a little kid. After doing ballet for six years, she decided to join the ballroom team during her sophomore year of high school; she tried out and made it on the Green Team, which consists of the beginning dancers. She tried out again her junior year and she made the highest team, called the Gold Team. In March 2020, she performed a cha-cha routine called “Don't Stop the Party” with the Green Team, winning first place at Utah Classic and second place at Gem State Classic. Some of her favorite standard dances include the waltz and foxtrot. When she finishes high school, she wants to go to college at Boise State University or Idaho State University, majoring in either zoology or environmental science. Since she was little, Kenna has always dreamed of having a career that involves animals. When Kenna was a kid, she liked to collect National Geographic magazines, or watch Animal Planet and nature documentaries. Kenna’s aesthetic can be defined as fairy-like and inspired by her connection to nature. She really enjoys nature because of the calm and serene atmosphere. According to Kenna, “Some days I wish that I was in a cottage in an enchanted forest.” One of her happy places is outside, either drawing or reading. She is a bit of an introvert and likes to be in solitude. Kenna's personality is like a fairy, bubbly and loud, but she can also be quiet and calm. Either way, Kenna can apply her energy to her writing for the newspaper. Throughout her time on The Buzz, she has written a lot of stories. She is a hard worker and is punctual when submitting her articles. Kenna is known for dancing, journalism, fairies, nature, and animals. Go cheer on Kenna and the Bonneville Ballroom at their next performance at Thunder Stadium on October 21 at 7:00 P.M.

Kayla Black Staff Writer Griffin Moeller is a senior at Bonneville High School. He has been in The Bonneville Buzz for two years now and Griffin speaking with The Buzz today allowed people to get to know more about him. Griffin does not play sports, but if he had to choose a sport he would choose basketball because it is an inside sport rather than outside. After high school, Griffin would like to go to Brigham Young University-Idaho to pursue writing. If he could choose to teach a class, he would teach journalism or English. He also thinks history would be interesting to teach, although in Griffin's opinion, he is better at English than history. According to Griffin, his favorite class this year would be “Journalism because I really enjoy the environment, the people, and I think I'm good at writing.” Griffin has a strong passion for writing. “When I was younger, I really enjoyed making stories and comics. In eighth grade, my history class wrote scary stories on Halloween. My teacher was so impressed with my piece that he had me read it to his teacher. That's when I knew that I should pursue writing.” When Griffin entered high school, he knew what he wanted to do and what classes to take. Griffin was born in Idaho Falls. He is the youngest in his house; he has two older brothers, one is 22 and the other is 20. Griffin does not enjoy cooking. He would rather leave it up to his mom. If he has to choose a favorite food it would be very difficult. “There are too many foods to choose from,” says Griffin. Aside from food and his family, his favorite movie is Knives Out. He loves the plot; it is also very intelligent and the actors are amazing. When Griffin does read, his go-to is the Lord of the Flies. He really enjoyed the story and how disturbing it was. Griffin’s parents are both teachers. While he was growing up, they always taught him how to treat others with respect, no matter who they were. His mindset has changed the way he is in school and with his schoolwork. The way Griffin's parents raised him has given him a lot of insight on how the world should be. Griffin wants to make many changes in the world and to make it a better environment. Makenna Goertzen Staff Writer On September 15 of this year, The Bonneville Buzz team got to know each other a little more through a practice interview. Charly Dixon, a freshman staff writer, was one of the many staff members questioned. Here are some of her answers to the questions given. “What are your plans after high school?” Charly wants to pursue a career in fashion or interior design since she enjoys the creative side of these professions. She finds pleasure in picking out clothing items, furniture, or decorations and piecing them together to create something she admires. However, she is fearful that her lack of drawing skills could be a disadvantage while working in the fashion industry. “What is your favorite TV Show?” Charly’s favorite TV show is the 1994 American sitcom Friends. She appreciates that the characters all have very different personalities yet still have strong relationships and relate to one another differently. Charly does believe that Ross and Rachel were on a break; for all the fans of the show Friends. “How did you get into a journalism class?” According to Charly, she loves writing despite her hate for English. She finds writing calming and a great way to de-stress. She enjoys writing stories, specifically fantasy-type narratives, that is why she decided to join The Bonneville Buzz newspaper team. According to Charly, “If a teacher says to write a story, I get excited.” She has a lot of potential and creativity to bring to the team. “If you could have dinner with any person living or passed, who would it be?” Charly immediately answered, “Terry Crews,”; American actor, television host, and a former football player for the Los Angeles Rams and San Diego Chargers. Charly discussed how her family adores him. “My whole family has been obsessed with him; we all love his personality.” Her favorite TV show that Terry Crews acts in is the American comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine as the character Lieutenant Terry Jeffords. “What is your biggest accomplishment?” Charly takes pride in the achievement of beating her personal swim times. She has loved swimming since she was a kid, and her father was a part of a swim team when he was younger. She does not believe she will continue swim after high school because she does not want to become a professional swimmer; due to her anxiety about the stress and immense work required in that profession. “If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you go?” Charly said she wanted to stay in Idaho, claiming “there is nowhere else I’d really want to be.” However, she has always loved visiting her distant family in California, even though she does not get to see them often; she can only visit once or twice a year. “What would you change from your past if you could?” Charly explains that she would not change anything about her past because she adores her previous neighborhood and school. She moved from District 91 to District 93 due to needing a bigger house; her family needed more space for her brother, two sisters, and herself. Thus Charly is incredibly upbeat and a genuinely positive person. She tries her best to live in the moment and not to worry too much about her future. She cherishes goofy TV shows, fashion and interior design, writing, and swimming. She is an incredible team member and is a ton of fun to work with on The Bonneville Buzz. Thanks to Charly Dixon for being such a fabulous teammate. |
