Bonneville High School’s Miss Bonneville 2024-2025 is Preslie Arfman. Because she is no longer on the cheer team and still wanted to be involved in the BHS community, she decided to try out for Miss Bonneville. She also knew some of the girls trying out for Miss Bonneville, which also helped her make her decision. Arfmann mentions she and the girls told each other, “If you do it, I’ll do it.” However, Arfman says her biggest motivation of all was her mom because she encouraged her the most by pushing her to her full potential.
Her victory now allows her to see things from a different perspective because of her first duty, she and Officer Sperry shopped together at Target for kids that were unfortunate. This helped her realize that she is so blessed and that she has so many opportunities available to her. As Miss Bonneville, it also pushes her to become a better person and set an example for others. Aside from this, the biggest obstacle she faced while competing was the onstage questions. She mentioned that she was made aware of what the questions were, but not which one she was ultimately going to be asked. She mentioned that the fact that she did not know which question she was going to answer on stage gave her some concern and worry. However, she was able to overcome her worry by practicing and rehearsing the questions every day. Not only did she do this on her own, but with the help of her family as well. She talks about how her mom and her uncle would text her the onstage questions every day so she could answer and memorize them.
Some of her duties now as Miss Bonneville includes shopping with a cop, attending the Ammon Light Palooza, handing out cookies with Miss Hillcrest, and caroling in Rexburg with Miss Madison. Her favorite memory she has made so far is when she visited the Senior Citizens Home. She mentioned that some elders would approach her and reminisce about the times they won Miss Jefferson County and others. Not only this, but she loved being approached by kids at the Ammon light palooza and being acknowledged as a princess by them.
The biggest lesson she has learned from this whole experience is that “[she has] so much in front of [her] and [did not] realize it.”Arfmann expresses that other girls should consider competing for Miss Bonneville because it is an excellent opportunity to make new friendships and expand their social circle. Arfmann shares that she never attended a practice feeling like she did not want to be there or feeling left out. Arfmann’s last message for girls that are debating whether or not to compete for Miss Bonneville is to turn nerves into excitement and to be confident no matter what.
