Mrs. Biggs has been recording for the district's podcast, D93 News, for a year, and The Bonneville Buzz interviewed her for more information. D93 News has been around since March 29th, 2022. The podcast has 48 episodes featuring people around the district.
Phil Cambell, District Public Relations Coordinator, made the podcast and roped Biggs into helping him. Campbell and Biggs had created a few episodes together, and Biggs brought up an idea. That idea had landed her into learning how to do the podcast. Biggs explained that “he showed [her] how to do it.” She made her first episode on her own before it “kind of became an assignment, more of a[n] expectation.” Afterward, Biggs became the recorder and spokesperson for the podcast. While she did not choose this, she has become a huge part of making the podcast a working element for the district's visibility.
Campbell and Biggs had done episodes together before. When Biggs took over, she knew what to ask people when interviewing them. However, when it came down to technology, she needed a few lessons on how to use it. Biggs added, “I did some practice ones with him, to practice questioning and stuff like that. Then he kind of just let me go on my own.” The practice brought Biggs the news of becoming the one incharge of recording the podcast.
She chooses people who have been working in the district a long time and topics that concern the community. For example, she had an interview with Steve Belnap, a National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) referee, about basketball during the basketball season. Biggs brings to light that, “I look for different themes. I try not to do too many people that are the same.” She tries to space out each person and keep from doing the same type of topic.
One of the struggles that come with recording a podcast is time. Biggs commented, “time is a factor that sometimes [makes it] hard to get together or figure out a time to talk.” However, she has never been told no when requesting an interview. Biggs further explains that she “had to push some people off. One lady was going to do it, and then she ended up getting a really bad cold.” Then Biggs and her had to reschedule to make both their schedules work to record their session.
