In the Bonneville community there are many cogs that move to keep the Hive running. One of these puzzle pieces include local renovations and construction. The work of these community members is driven by the hope of increasing productivity in and around the hive.
Transportation to school is one of the major parts of students' lives. "According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, students spend "55 minutes a day behind the wheel." When analyzing the student travel routes, 72.1% of students who answered a survey said that they do not take the bus to school but use alternatives such as walking, driving with a parent or driving themselves. Students who travel outside of buses and use a variety of roads have a wider gaze onto the community projects. 30% of students who answered a survey, state that the construction around the school changes their morning schedule greatly. Although the majority of responders shared they are not late because of construction. Many students find this construction congestive to traffic because it causes driver error and makes roads difficult to traverse. Students at Bonneville often struggle with conditions that make access hard in their lives. The varying responses show that the construction around Bonneville High School is often viewed as merely an annoyance of a new obstacle. While the students may only see the slow signs and the long time periods, there is a purpose behind the construction based in community service.
Clarifying the purpose of construction can help students understand why minor setbacks lead to greater improvements. The new healthcare facility is being built in the location 1533 N. Sunstone Dr., Idaho Falls, ID 83401. The funding comes through the company's personal operations. Mark Baker, the Chief Administrative Officer at  Bingham Healthcare shares their motivations to move to this location; “our mission at Bingham Healthcare is to advance healthcare services in the communities we serve.” The overall hope for this new healthcare is to create trust with the community. Baker shares that he wants the community to know “they have come to the right place with the right people who truly care.” Baker explains how the members of the company want to reach past “the significant gap in access to urgent and primary care services in that area.” The providers at the location will include Carmen Radford and Dr. Tyler Kunz. Kunz hopes to use his specialities in sports medicine to help the community teams and athletes. Baker stands firm in the company's value that all healthcare “must be delivered with compassion, and understanding so that all patients can feel the assurance they need.”
In the end most students do find this construction annoying but the purpose of this project is to clarify the roads and boost access. Overall the members of our community work together just like a beehive so that they might all benefit from having access to education and healthcare.
