BHS Plans: Major A Wing Renovation

  Bonneville High School (BHS) administrators have decided it is time for some changes within the school, specifically, changes in the A wing. The changes are planned to commence in June of 2026 and the school hopes to finish by August of 2027.
​  BHS plans to add several temporary classroom trailers outside of the school where A wing will be doing their classes while the changes happen. Some trailers have already been added to the exterior of the school. Principle Jolly was asked what the changes are going to be; he stated, “The entirety of A wing is going to be torn out and fully redone.” This plan is just now being put into action, but talk about these renovations have been happening for about three years. The school's main goal for these changes is safety. As of November 21, 2025, the only way to access fire escapes in BHS is to go through a classroom. This makes the fire escapes very cramped for all students to exit through. The school plans to add several more of these fire escapes around A wing to make them more accessible. The next plan for the changes is to add more science labs to the school. The school currently only has one “lab” which is the chemistry room; however, they can not use a lot of chemicals in the rooms because of safety precautions. As a way to fix this problem, the school is going to add more science labs. This should give students a better experience in the Chemistry and Biology classes. The A wing currently holds English, Science, History and a few elective classes. These classes will go to the many trailers outside of the building. The students will be outside in the trailers for the entire 2026-2027 school year. The changes hope to be complete at the start of 2027-2028’s school year, but problems can arise. The renovations have raised questions among students. Some of the questions include are they going to do the same to the rest of the school? Or to the exterior? Jolly notes, “There is currently no plan to change the rest of Bonneville." The current plan is only for A wing; the rest of the school will remain the same as it has been. BHS students should be able to return during the 2027-2028 school year, with new science labs and safer classrooms for all.
